What to Expect

We will clarify what is most important to you, what you want to change, and how you would like to grow.

The Past and The Present

We can choose to explore the past and how past elements and experiences shape your thoughts, feelings and reactions. This process allows you to let go of old, discouraging stories and beliefs about yourself, thereby freeing you to see yourself and your circumstances differently and allowing a more balanced core self to emerge.

We can choose to focus more on the present and what arises for you in a present moment of distress. We will explore the thoughts that beget difficult feelings, developing the ability to notice thoughts and not internalize them. We will examine your reactions to present-day difficult circumstances and feelings to find methods to alleviate pain and discomfort in somatic (i.e., in the body--the physical responses), emotional, and mental experiences.

Frequency and Length of Therapy Treatment

Therapy sessions are typically held once a week for 50 minutes.

Based on your goals, we will discuss the length of therapy involvement. If you have a very specific problem, therapy may only need to last for a limited number of sessions. More complicated issues likely require some months or more to allow the mind sufficient time to grapple with, understand, change and resolve. Long-standing problems and childhood trauma likely benefit most from longer-term (a year or more) therapy.

Rates

My rates range from $175-$250 per session.

I do not accept insurance. I am an out-of-network provider with many health insurance plans. Some out-of-network plans will cover anywhere from 40-100% of the cost of the sessions. If you use an out-of-network insurance plan, you pay me directly. I provide you with a monthly statement, which you submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
